Family Partnership Award

The new national Family Partnership Award has been developed in response to the latest Government requirements.  It adopts a streamlined approach to auditing and gathering evidence on good practice family partnership working.

The self-evaluation framework covers six thematic aspects relating to family partnership working.  These include:

  1. Ethos, vision and policy
  2. Leadership, management and coordination
  3. Communication and information sharing
  4. Partnership in practice
  5. Early intervention
  6. Effectiveness

An educational setting or service makes ‘best fit’ judgements against the good practice evidence descriptors in the audit, for each theme.  An action plan is developed to identify the activities necessary in order to address any gaps in current policy and practice.

Evidence for each theme is gathered together in a portfolio, which is presented for external assessment.  An on-site assessment is also undertaken, where the views of key stakeholders are heard, and family partnership policy and practice is observed in practice.

The process usually takes a year, and when all six themes have been fully met a glass plaque, framed certificate and a digital logo are obtained. The award is valid for three years and can be renewed for a further three years, following a reassessment.
