Achievement through Well-Being Award

The Achievement through Well-Being Award comprises of twelve aspects or standards. The aspects cover:

  • Ethos
  • Policy
  • Environment
  • Leadership & Management
  • Personalised learning
  • Curriculum entitlement, access and choice
  • Presence, participation and personal development
  • Partnership with parents/carers
  • Multi-agency working
  • Community
  • Transition & Transfer
  • Professional development

The standards are appropriate to use in a range of educational settings: Children’s Centres, Early Years settings, PRU’s, mainstream primary & secondary schools, special schools, FE Colleges and Academies.  Each Standard comprises of a statement of intent, and a series of evidence descriptors.  An educational setting assesses if it can meet all the criteria in each of the twelve aspects.

The process usually takes a year, and an educational setting works towards gathering evidence to meet all twelve Standards in the form of a Portfolio of Evidence and a one day on-site external assessment.  When all the twelve Standards have been met an Award plaque, certificate and a digital logo are obtained.

The publication How to Achieve the Every Child Matters Standards. A Practical Guide is the essential handbook providing the self-evaluation framework and guidance for compiling the Portfolio of Evidence for assessment.  Education Consultancy & Management (ECM) Solutions has ensured that the entire process is manageable by offering a robust framework for educational settings to evaluate their own performance.  It provides good quality evidence to support the OFSTED inspection.  The Achievement Through Well-Being Award remains valid for three years, and is renewable after this period.
